Tower Block Residents Have their Say
/Supporting Communities' new Tower Block project aims to encourage tenant representation across Housing Executive owned high rise buildings.
An important first step in this process has been to hear from the residents themselves. We surveyed every resident in all 33 tower blocks to find out more about what it’s like living in this kind of accommodation, what the issues are that affect these residents, and how they communicate with the Housing Executive.
In addition to the surveys, we also ran a series of 28 drop-in information sessions specifically for people living in tower blocks. These sessions provided residents to get help to complete their surveys and to tell us more about the issues which affect them.
Residents who completed and returned their surveys were entered into a random prize draw to win 1 of 3 Amazon Fire tablets. Congratulations to the three winners – Jean, Paul & Vilinda!
Sarah Harkness-Robinson, Tower Block Co-ordinator, commented: “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete & return their survey or to attend one of our drop-in information sessions. It has been incredibly useful hearing from the residents in order to learn what their priorities are. This will help inform how the Tower Block Project is delivered going forward, and how we can support meaningful engagement between tower block residents and the Housing Executive.”
The results of the surveys are being analysed and will be shared with the Tower Block residents and the Housing Executive, along with bespoke action plans for individual blocks.
