Supporting Communities Awarded Three Year Grant from Dormant Accounts Fund NI

CoLm McDaid, CEO Supporting Communities

We are very happy to announce we have been awarded Dormant Accounts NI funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. We will use the £69,183 grant to improve our income generation and reduce our reliance on funding to become a more sustainable organisation working to strengthen and empower communities throughout Northern Ireland.

In this latest round of funding delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund in conjunction with the Department of Finance, over £1.3 million has been awarded to 16 organisations from the voluntary, community, and social enterprise sector to help ensure their long-term sustainability. We are thrilled to be in such good company. This money will be truly transformative for Supporting Communities as we strive to develop new business strategies, grow additional revenue streams, and strengthen our partnerships.

Colm McDaid, Chief Executive, commented, “Our Board commissioned a business transformation exercise last year intending to make the organisation as efficient and streamlined as possible with the ultimate goal of ensuring our long-term sustainability. As we considered the recommendations of this business transformation exercise, we noted the incredible opportunity that the Dormant Account Fund could provide in helping us become more sustainable going forward. On behalf of Supporting Communities, I am absolutely delighted to accept this very timely and significant funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the Department of Finance, which will help us consolidate and embed a Business Development role within the staff team for the next three years and assist us in delivering our forthcoming strategic plan.”

The National Lottery Community Fund states, “We are passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that when people are in the lead, communities thrive.”

This idea fits perfectly with our organisation’s vision for ‘empowered, diverse and inclusive communities that are engaged, confident and sustainable.’ This funding will bring us that much closer to achieving our goals.
