Radius Housing has been awarded Supporting Communities' Platinum-level Tenant Participation Accreditation, the highest of the four accreditation levels, in recognition of sector-leading quality in its tenant engagement practices.

This achievement comes just two years after Radius Housing secured the Gold-level accreditation and reflects the organisation's work to act on the recommendations set out in its roadmap report, alongside an ongoing commitment to strengthening tenant involvement in decision-making.

Tenant Participation Accreditation, delivered by Supporting Communities, is assessed against a rigorous, independent framework that covers how landlords engage, consult, and work in partnership with tenants. The Platinum award is reserved for organisations that demonstrate excellent, industry-leading results for tenants, underpinned by strong leadership, innovation and a deep, sustained commitment to tenant engagement. It is awarded not simply for good practice in the present, but for practice that is sustainable, built to last, and capable of influencing wider policy and practice across the sector.

In their evaluation, the independent assessor formally acknowledged the considerable efforts made by Radius in implementing the recommendations arising from its previous accreditation submission, singling out the organisation's proposed collaborative work with the Northern Ireland Youth Forum and the development of its Equality Action Plan as clear evidence of a meaningful commitment to inclusive practice. The assessor also thanked the tenants and staff who took part in focus groups during the assessment, noting that their open and constructive engagement helped demonstrate that Radius's written policies and procedures are genuinely reflected in day-to-day practice.

The Independent Panel Chair further described Radius as a high-performing organisation where tenant participation is embedded at every level, one that actively listens to tenants at both community and association-wide levels, and that listens, acts, and provides the resources needed to enable genuine engagement.

Lesa Flanagan, Senior Tenant Engagement Officer at Radius Housing, said:

"This award belongs every bit as much to our tenants as it does to Radius. Their feedback, ideas and enthusiasm for getting involved have shaped the way we deliver our services and helped us build stronger, more connected communities. We are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their experiences, join conversations and work alongside us to make a real difference.

Seeing the positive impact of genuine tenant participation has been inspiring. It shows what can be achieved when people feel listened to and valued. We are committed to continuing this journey together, ensuring every tenant has the opportunity to have their voice heard and to help shape the services they receive.”

Stephen Marks, Head of Corporate Services at Supporting Communities, said:

"Reaching Platinum just two years after achieving Gold is a significant achievement, and it speaks to the genuine commitment Radius Housing has shown to putting tenants at the heart of everything they do. Platinum is the highest standard in our accreditation framework, and it isn't given lightly; it recognises organisations that go above and beyond to make tenant participation meaningful and impactful. We'd like to congratulate everyone at Radius Housing, and particularly their tenants, whose voices have clearly shaped this success."

As the Independent Tenant Organisation for Northern Ireland, Supporting Communities works with social housing providers to raise the standard of tenant engagement. This latest achievement by Radius certainly does just that.
