Phoenix Energy has opened applications to its Phoenix Community Fund, which provides small grants for local events and activities in Northern Ireland.

The scheme offers grants of up to £500 to support inclusive local projects and activities that are open to a cross section of the community.

The funding aims to support activities that reduce social isolation and barriers to inclusion, promote equality in the community and assist biodiversity groups and organisations seeking to enhance local biodiversity and environmental impact.

Applications are accepted from community organisations based within the Phoenix Energy licence area of Northern Ireland. To be eligible, applicants must hold a bank account registered in the community organisation's name.

Support can be used towards the delivery of local activities and projects that align with the programme's objectives.

Growing Green Minds: How MACCA's Summer Scheme Planted a Love of Nature in Omagh

When Mullaghmore & Castleview Community Association (MACCA) in Omagh set out to plan this year's summer scheme, they took a chance on something different. Alongside the usual trips to the cinema and play areas, children aged 5 to 14 spent a full week immersed in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Future Farmers programme exploring the natural world on their own doorstep. The risk paid off in a big way!
