HCN 'Summer School' Launches Digital Skills Week this August

Housing Community Network groups are invited to attend our free summer school this August. The sessions will focus on digital skills to take your organisation to the next level!

As small community groups grow, they often find they need to get more organised and learn new tools to help them succeed in a digital world. Our Digital Inclusion Officer, Carla, has put together a week-long series of online learning events that will support HCN groups in doing just that.

Supporting Communities is holding an online class focusing on a specific skill every day from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the week of 12 August. Members can attend any or all of the sessions they like by emailing carla@supportingcommunities.org to request the Zoom link.

The Topics

On Monday, August 12th, we will explore using Google Drive to create and share work online and access documents from anywhere. Learn to work together in the digital space!

On Tuesday, we’ll get into Creating with Canva, a free online tool to make eye-catching materials like flyers and images for social media.

Wednesday is an important look at Online Safety, specifically protecting your online accounts and using strong passwords.

Then, on Thursday, we’ll discuss what you need to know to use Facebook for Groups, including how to set up a group, a page, admin permissions, and more.

Finally, on Friday, we’ll tackle Online Surveys, a great tool for gathering feedback from your wider community.
