The Women’s Fund for Northern Ireland's Individual Bursaries have been set up to fill a gap in funding opportunities for individual women who require a small amount of financial aid to support them towards fulfilling their potential. It is a NI-wide scheme which prioritises bursaries to support women to re-enter the workplace.
The Fund will offer small grants (normally between £300 and £500) for individual women aged 18 and over, living in Northern Ireland, who are striving to get into, or back into employment.
Who can apply?
Individual women aged 18 and over, living in Northern Ireland, who are striving to get into, or back into employment.
Applicants will preferably be affiliated to a constituted community/women’s group and have the support of that organisation, however if you are not you will still be eligible to apply.
What can you apply for?
While not exclusive, the Fund welcomes applications for Bursaries that address the following:
Personal development & confidence building
Overcoming barriers to employment or training
Making the first steps towards re-entering the workplace
Examples of the types of activities that may be supported:
Basic training support materials – books for example
Travel costs to access relevant training (public transport for up to six months)
Childcare during employability training (up to six months)
The fund will not support:
Formal education fees for long term courses eg: Degrees, Masters, courses over one year in length
Travel outside of Northern Ireland
Vehicles or related costs
Large items of equipment such as IT equipment *unless absolutely essential
Parties & shopping trips
Promotion of religion or politics
