Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust - Northern Ireland Programme

Grants are available for work which will contribute at a strategic level to the ongoing transformation of the Northern Ireland conflict.

Funding Priorities

JRCT is interested in funding work which:

  • addresses the root causes of violence and injustice, rather than alleviating symptoms

  • cannot be funded from other sources

  • is likely to make a long-term, strategic difference.

  • Local work will be supported only where it is likely to have a wider impact, for example if it is testing a model which can then be replicated, or is addressing a local issue that has wider social or political implications.

In addition to applications from Northern Ireland, it is open to receiving applications from Britain and the Republic of Ireland for work related to the above areas, and for work with an all-Ireland focus.

Who Can Apply

In addition to applications from Northern Ireland, the Trust is open to receiving applications from organisations in Britain and the Republic of Ireland for work with an all Ireland focus. Local work will be supported only where it is likely to have a wider impact, for example if it is testing a model which can then be replicated, or is addressing a local issue that has wider social or political implications.

How To Apply

  • Further information available at https://www.jrct.org.uk/

  • After reading the guidelines, applicants are advised to contact the Trust office by email or telephone to discuss their application on 01904 627 810 or enquiries@jrct.org.uk  This should be done well before the deadline for applications.

  • The next application deadline is 25 March 2019 (9.00am).

  • Application forms are available to complete online at the Trust's website.

It is extremely helpful if applications arrive well before the deadline whenever possible. The period immediately after the deadline is our busiest time, so we cannot normally consider applications that arrive late until the following funding round.
